Terrifier 2 (2022)
Terrifier 2
This will be quick because much like the first ‘Terrifier’, it’s basically just a gorefest with very little plot and not great characters. It is actually a step up from the previous movie, I think solely because of the set design and tiny pieces of the story. The overall storyline still isn’t there, but I liked how there were characters who fought back (and seemingly won), and how this one made connections to the previous movie. It’s cool seeing everything kind of add up, but it still doesn’t make much sense. The run time also felt very unnecessary. I mean, 2 hours and 18 minutes for a movie like this? It shouldn’t have been more than an hour and 45, max. It just went on and on, and there’s only so many times you can watch someone get their face bashed in. Speaking of which, the practical effects were really really good, and though extremely sickening, definitely the best part of the movie. It was basically like the Saw franchise, but minus the actual plot structure. Finally, as stated, the characters aren’t great, except for Sienna. The acting wasn’t great as well, so it was hard to stay focused. Overall, this movie lacked a lot, but wasn’t as bad as the first ‘Terrifier’. I’m not sure I’d watch it again, nor would I recommend it unless you just love these kinds of torture movies.
