The Invisible Man Returns (1940)
The Invisible Man Returns
This definitely doesn’t hold up to the first one, but it was still good, and I still enjoyed it. It seemed a little less interesting because of how similar it was. I mean, it had a somewhat different plot, but in terms of story progression, it felt the same. I did like how even though this is related to the first movie, it’s not a direct continuation of that storyline. You can still pretty much watch this and have an idea of what’s going on without needing the background knowledge. The characters were all different as well, so we got to see some new faces (and technically, you don’t get to see a new face). The cast was pretty good, and I loved Vincent Price, like always. He always perfects each role he’s in. As much as I love him, Claude Rains is still THE Invisible Man. Having a different actor was one of the slight downgrades of this. The special effects were also slightly worse, but still very good for its time. Sometimes it was very obvious, but that’s also what gives these movies that classic feel. Overall, this was a small step down from the first movie, but still good. I’d recommend it if you like these old black and white sci-fi/horrors. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
