Prometheus (2012)
Prometheus
I think this was a decently made movie with one of the best sci-fi feels I’ve seen in a while. It’s cool to see a movie in the alien franchise that explores more of the lore rather than being about action. On the flipside, because it’s more about exploration, I had a pretty hard time paying attention. There were plenty of scenes where I was locked in, but there were also a lot of scenes that were just hard to sit through. Especially the first hour. I think the first hour of this movie was one of the longest hours of my life. It wasn’t because the movie was bad, it just dragged on forever and I needed it to collect itself and start going somewhere.I think my only true complaint was just the story. But a lot of the other stuff was really good. The movie has a fantastic cast, with cool performances from Fassbender, Elba, and more. I don’t think any of the characters stuck out to me, but the acting was good. The production design was really great, as I said in my opening sentence. It feels very unique and unlike a lot of other sci-fi movies. Visually, it definitely works for me. It’s almost drabby, but at the same time, it feels bright and color is put in places that your attention needs to be at. The CGI was also good, and feels a lot like Star Wars in the sense that you can tell where it’s used, but it’s done well. The overall quality of the movie is good. It’s just that it was so hard to pay attention to at times. I do like how it adds to the lore. It’s definitely one I’m gonna have to rewatch at some point, but it was decent for the first time. I’d probably recommend it to most sci-fi fans.
