I legitimately don’t understand how this movie currently has a 36% on Rotten Tomatoes. There are definitely some aspects that people don’t like, which I can understand, but as a whole, it was pretty entertaining. I do have some minor complaints, but nothing that stops this movie from being bad. Story-wise, it was good, very unique, but it definitely focused too much on the characters. To me, it actually reminded me a lot of The Last of Us, though, obviously, 65 million years ago. You’d have to see that and this movie to understand what I mean. I went into it wanting to see a crazy fight against dinosaurs before time runs out, but instead, it was one big sentimental journey for both characters. That’s not a bad thing, but it pulls away from what the movie should’ve been. Even though it’s a great performance from both Adam Driver and Ariana Greenblatt, I didn’t show up to see their backstories and growth. In that sense, the movie was disappointing. Another thing that kind of made me mad was the lack of dinosaurs. There are definitely several types you see, and a few epic showdowns, but besides those, it was bland. But, the design of the gigantic ones closet towards the end are really sweet and THAT WATERFALL SCENE WAS AWESOME. I loved all the CGI and effects. A few bits were a little questionable to me, but overall, they were pretty solid and made some terrifying creatures. Also, (and a spoiler), I loved seeing the asteroid crash into Earth. It’s not something I’ve ever seen in a movie, so that first time experience was amazing. Plus, total destruction is just straight up awesome. I think the 93 minute runtime is really nice as well. It gets straight to the point, packs just enough thrill, and doesn’t drag out like many do. I also really liked the score, though it didn’t have much uniqueness to it. It had some very thrilling buildups, which added some great feeling to the movie. Overall, I think this movie was solid, despite what the dumb critics would say. It definitely has some kinks that should’ve been worked out in a much better way. But like I said, that doesn’t stop it from being bad. I would definitely recommend this to all sci-fi/action fans, especially (and obviously) if you like dinosaurs. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
