The Exorcist: Believer (2023)
The Exorcist: Believer
This was certainly a step up from the previous few Exorcist movies, but it was still a bit disappointing. Almost none of it felt original at all, kind of like the entire franchise. Instead of having one girl be possessed, guess what? They added two! It just didn’t seem like the writers tried very hard. Compared to the other movies, it’s basically on the same level. Now, I did enjoy this more than all the other ones (minus the first one), but it wasn’t great. There were a couple decisions made that I don’t agree with (which I obviously can’t say for spoilers), but it didn’t work out for the better. I did mostly enjoy the story, with the whole missing persons feel. It was spooky and all, but once the girls were found (and started going nuts), it was just another exorcism movie. The characters didn’t help that much, either. Except for a handful, most of them were just…there. I really like Leslie Odom Jr, so watching him was fun. Also, Ellen Burstyn’s return was amazing, even though *minor spoiler* she was done dirty. The ending scene was really awesome, and I’m glad they put it in. It wasn’t necessary, but still cool. The special effects were pretty good for the most part (the makeup was cool), but some of it was extremely evident. Finally, the soundtrack was solid, with the original theme played a few times. Overall, this movie wasn’t needed at all, but it was still exciting in some parts. It’ll definitely be awhile before I watch this again.
