X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
X-Men: The Last Stand
So apparently, the critics weren’t too happy with this movie, per Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. Personally, I have no idea why. In fact, I liked this movie more than the previous two. I’m not totally sure why, it was just very thrilling, and I liked the story. Some bits of fit do feel a little similar to other superhero movies, but I still thought it was executed nicely. From a critiquing standpoint, I think this is the weakest of the first three X-Men movies. The first two have stronger stories and not as much CGI, which puts them above this one. However, I still like this one the most. Yes, I’m an oddball. I love how a certain person returns and basically turns evil, which is always fun. It hurts emotionally, but it makes for a fun sitting. The return of most of the characters was nice, with some nice new additions. I also really liked some of the creative decisions involving X-Men. I can’t say which ones specifically, because I would outright spoil the movie. Some of those decisions make the movie as interesting as it was. There is a nice and gloomy feel, which I particularly enjoyed. One teeny complaint I have was the amount of special effects. It wasn’t overbearing like a lot of the more recent MCU movies, but sometimes it was very noticeable. Yes, it was 2006, so they could probably use that as an excuse. It wasn’t necessarily bad, just a little much compared to the first two movies. I think that’s about all I can say right now, cause any more might be borderline spoiling. Overall, it was well made, and though not as good as the first two films, I liked it the most. I would recommend it to all superhero/Marvel fans.
