Believe me when I tell you that this movie is not at all what you’d expect. When I first started it, I wasn’t really sure where it was going, and even until the end, you are still left guessing what everything was about. Because of that, it’s very entertaining, and it keeps you sucked in from the first second to the last. The story is absolutely fantastic. Like I said, it pulls you in, and I was invested for almost every second of the movie. It does a great job of constantly adding some kind of small twist or turn. Right when you think you understand what’s happening, something new shows up, and totally flips the movie around. The whole thing had a really unsettling feel, and though it’s not scary, it’s still pretty intense. There were definitely a couple scenes that left me shocked, one in particular that made my mouth drop. There are several moments that totally catch you off guard. I also like how this is a comedic thriller. The entire tone of the movie is creepy, but there are also several spots that give you a chance to laugh. They give you a nice change of pace, and a chance to relax before the freaky factor shows up again. The entire cast did a really great job, and each character was unique and special. In a weird way, this movie reminded me of Best in Show. Each person/couple were their own kind of oddballs, and they all stood out in their own ways. Ralph Fiennes did a beautiful job, and there are not a lot of actors who I would’ve wanted to see in his spot. He was able to give an intense and unsettling presence, though still being calm and collected. I also really enjoyed both Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult. They were both funny and serious, and added a great feel to the entire thing. This movie was also really aesthetically pleasing. The setting was beautiful and colorful, despite the dark storyline. I also really loved the presence of the food. I’m definitely not a food critic, but I enjoy good food, so constantly seeing it in the movie was fun. The cheeseburger scene near the end was super satisfying, and it made me really hungry. The music was also really great, and it does a good job of fitting the comedy and thriller feel. Anyways, I would definitely recommend this movie to all fans of dark comedies. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
