The Visit (2015)
The Visit
I won’t look at grandparents the same way after this movie. Although it was a bit of a let-down, I enjoyed the style that M. Night Shyamalan went for, and it was pretty unique. The movie was filmed almost in a mockumentary style, where the kids were making a documentary and filming their trip. So, instead of just a standard horror film, it gave you an almost kind of found footage feel. Besides that, I wasn’t super impressed with the film. The story was decently good, but there were a few loose ends that weren’t really wrapped up. Although there are explanations for many of the characters and situations, there were still a couple confusing elements that took me a little bit to understand. I think the story could’ve been written to make a little more sense, but it was still a decent movie. The acting all around was pretty good, and Nana was legitimately terrifying. Although this isn’t a movie that has many jump scares, there was one in particular that was one of the best jump scares I’ve ever seen in a movie. The movie also felt really long to me, and even though it was only 93 minutes, it felt really long. However, the old couple definitely makes up for that, and they constantly give you an uneasy and creepy feel. I’d probably recommend this, although I won’t watch it again.
