The Ring (2002)
The Ring
Definitely on the more disappointing side, I didn’t care for this one that much. I found myself getting bored throughout the movie, and although there were a couple scenes that were kind of cool, the overall entertainment wasn’t great. I do really like the plot, and the whole creepy videotape idea was really nice. And quite honestly, the short video on the videotape was scarier than the whole movie. I would probably say that this movie felt more like a mystery than an actual horror film, and although it had its scary moments, the majority of the movie was just about trying to solve what the videotape meant. The overall plot wasn’t super great either. I found it was really hard to follow along with what was happening, and the majority of the backstory of the videotape was pretty confusing to me. However, the actual production of the movie was decently good. There were some really nice shots throughout, and there were some also really good sound effects. One thing I really loved was how there was a green tinge throughout the entirety of the movie, and it gives you an unsettling and almost gross feel. But besides the actual quality of the movie, it had a boring story, not so great characters, a weak soundtrack, and it wasn’t scary at all. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it unless you want to watch it just to say you watched it.
