Ant-Man (2015)
Ant-Man
I figured watching Paul Rudd playing someone who can shrink down to the size of a Tic Tac was gonna be awesome, and I wasn’t disappointed at all. This movie was so fun to watch, and it reminded me a lot of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (for obvious reasons). This movie definitely had a really good comic book feel, and I’d say it has one of the best comic book feels in any of the Marvel movies I’ve seen so far. The whole movie felt very energetic, and although it had some serious moments, a good chunk of the movie was very light-hearted and playful. Ant-Man has very quickly become one of my top favorite Marvel superheroes, and if he’s not careful, he might become #1. I absolutely loved Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and I’m very excited to watch Ant-Man and the Wasp. He brings the perfect amount of humor and inexperience, as well as a courageous and loving personality. He’s definitely not someone who I thought would’ve made a good superhero, but Rudd pulls it off so well. The story is really good, and extremely entertaining. It kept me sucked in the entire time, and it hooks you from the very beginning. Funnily enough, the story actually reminded me a lot of Despicable Me, and that’s what I mean when I say that the movie has a great feel. It’s a superhero that has some moments that actually feel a lot like Mission: Impossible or an espionage flick. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, but still provides plenty of comic relief when it’s needed. The movie also has a great message of trusting each other, as well as protecting and caring for your family. There were several great heartfelt moments that I really liked. My favorite part of the whole movie was when Ant-Man was shrunk down tiny and interacting with everyday objects. Some of my favorite parts included (spoilers) the vinyl record and Thomas the Train. It was both funny and amazing to see, and the CGI was absolutely fantastic. I also love all the ants that were used, and they were both fundamental to Ant-Man’s character, as well as the story overall. The music was also great, and although it didn’t always stick out, I really liked many of the themes. Overall, this movie was fantastic, and I would most definitely recommend it to all Marvel/superhero fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
