Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
Annabelle Comes Home
This is easily the best Annabelle movie in the trilogy, as well as my favorite. It’s a huge step up from the previous two, and I was very surprised by how good it was. Now, there were still some iffy moments, but I actually enjoyed this one. In fact, it’s the only movie of the three that was actually fun to sit down and watch. There were a couple moments where it lost me, as well as a few where it was a bit boring. But, I really liked the story, and especially the setting. Getting this kind of movie that’s based in the Warren’s home, without them being present, was very fun. I also very much enjoyed how the movie explored the room where they lock up all the cursed objects. It incorporates them in a scary but fun way. It doesn’t give many details about all the different objects (besides Annabelle), but their inclusion was still a good idea. I also thought the movie flowed really well. The story has a great opening, and it stays strong until the conclusion. One of the best things about the movie was how there were a couple breaks where you can take a breath and relax (and even laugh a little bit). There’s obviously a very dark tone, but there are a few scenes where there is color and humor, and not just demons and whatnot. The effects were decently good, although there were a few instances that were a bit questionable. But most were pretty good, and there were definitely a few jump scares that got me. The music was intense but also cliche. It didn’t feel too original or unique, although it adds the classic horror element to the movie. All the characters were pretty good, and the acting was also good, although sometimes a bit corny. Overall, I would recommend this to all horror fans, and you don’t need prior knowledge in order to watch this. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
