Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Just about one of the goofiest movies I’ve ever seen. If you asked me what it was about, I would just point to the title. It’s literally killer klowns from outer space. That’s all there is to it. No character development, no lessons, no plot. Literally alien klowns killing people with cotton candy guns. And it’s the fact that someone wrote this and got it approved by a studio to make. This is like the ‘Batman & Robin’ of horror movies. It’s colorful, silly, has random villains, and hilarious costumes. It’s so bad, it’s good. Despite the 87 minute runtime, it felt really slow, mostly because there was no story progression. Like I said, just klowns killing people. The acting was corny, as expected, but not horrible. The characters were actually all pretty good, too. There wasn’t anybody you didn’t like, except for Mooney. All the protagonists were pretty fun to get along with. All the designs of the klowns were great as well. They were creepy but very silly. I loved how they used actual masks and makeup to make it seem somewhat realistic, while still being obviously fake. That’s about all I can really say about this movie. It’s dumb, has very little plot, and cheesy dialogue, but it’s still entertaining enough. I don’t think I’d watch it again anytime soon, but it was a solid first time watch. If you like silly horror/sci-fi movies, then this is for you.
