Road House (2024)
Road House (2024)
I don’t have a whole lot to say, so this will be a shorter review. I figured it was gonna be hard to beat the original ‘Road House’, and I was right. This one does stand out in a couple small ways, but when you look at the big picture, it’s about the same. Really the only big differences were the location, some character changes, and a couple minor plot alterations. Besides that, it’s about the same. That’s why I don’t feel like I have too much to say, because I’ve already said what I needed to for the original. I will say I like this version of Dalton’s character a lot. I think Swayze just barely has the edge over Gyllenhaal, but both actors did an awesome job. One big complaint I have was the action sequences. They were fun, but very poorly shot. There was WAY too much VFX for the fight scenes, and it made them look really choppy and fake. Fun, but fake. I guess that’s about all I have to say about this movie. It’s just a remake that puts a modern spin on a classic, and though I enjoyed it, it was mediocre at best (critic wise). I’d still probably recommend it to most action/thriller fans, especially if you liked the original (but don’t get your hopes up for this).
