The Conjuring 2 (2016)
The Conjuring 2
A great sequel to the original, this is one that may even be scarier than the first to some. I will definitely say that there are some really good and really well timed jump scares throughout the movie. Overall, the story was really good, and although it took a different approach than the first one, it was still really good. The story behind the house felt really cliche, and even though it's based on true events, I think they could’ve done just a little better with giving the house a bit more background. In a way, it almost seemed a bit corny, but in a really good way. The acting was also really good all around, and almost every single character was done really well, and there were several scenes where you could almost feel the terror in each character. I also really loved the nun which continued popping up throughout the movie, and though it felt random at first, it made sense at the end, and made for a terrifying antagonist. I also want to mention the use of two songs in the movie. One was “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, which is easily one of the most beautiful songs that Elvis sang, and one of my favorite’s of his. The other was “I Started a Joke”, which was so beautifully sung by Robin Gibb, and it’s such a personal song to me. The rest of the score was really good as well. The last thing I really liked was how the movie’s end credits ended with the real life audio interview of Janet, and you actually hear the demon’s real voice with your own ears. Like the original, the end credits were shown with images of the real life people, which helps add authenticity. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
