Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Oftentimes, I hear people say that this is the best Harry Potter movie of the franchise. Now, I don’t necessarily believe that, but I will say that it is very good. It’s actually one of my least favorite Harry Potter movies, but I still really love it. Not only is it very accurate to the book, but it does a fantastic job of portraying time travel. I’m not a huge time travel person when it comes to movies and TV shows, excluding ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Back to the Future’. I’ve seen enough to wear it becomes cliche and overused. However, this movie does a brilliant job of explaining it and making sense of everything that takes place. In some ways, it still plays with your mind, but still simple enough to understand. This movie is easily one of the best time travel movies out there. Story-wise, the time travel actually doesn’t take up too much time (pun intended), so it doesn’t throw it in your face. You get a chance to learn more about the characters and their history and fears. It’s extremely well adapted. And like I said, very accurate to the book. The all star cast is also amazing. You get everyone you’ve already had, plus wizarding legends David Thewlis, Gary Oldman, and Michael Gambon. The CGI and special effects, like the rest of the movie, are great, with not too many noticeable mistakes. Of course, there’s some times when it looks a tiny bit silly, but the majority of them are awesome. And finally, the score is basically perfect. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: John Williams is a genius. There’s a whole lot more I could say about this movie, but I’ll go ahead and conclude. Overall, it’s extremely well made, and like I said, one of the best movies ever that involve time travel. I’d most definitely recommend it to all Harry Potter/fantasy fans, though you should obviously be caught up in the franchise. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
