Arrow (Season 1) (2012-2013)
Arrow (Season 1)
My gosh, what a great start to the Arrowverse. Of course, the Arrowverse isn’t gonna begin without Arrow, and let me say that this show is fire. The nice thing about it is that even though it’s been out for a while, I know very little about it. Everything is new to me, from the story up to each character. I really love the format of this show, and how you get two stories in one. Both the past and present play a huge role in the storytelling. It also attributes a great deal of information to the characters. I can easily say that because of this show, Oliver Queen/Green Arrow has entered my top 5 favorite DC heroes of all time. And that’s only based on 23 episodes. So the fact that I still have seven more to go makes me so excited. The story is just awesome, and it doesn’t solely focus on just action. It does a beautiful job of studying each character, and their relationships with each other. In terms of casting, everybody was so well picked, especially (and obviously) Stephen Amell as Oliver. I had never heard of him until this show, but my gosh he is awesome. Both physically and emotionally, he is literally perfect for the role. Plus, his outfit is freakin SWEET. I think I like his character so much because he’s like a mixture of Robin Hood and Rambo. I also love how he has no powers. He’s just a man who trains himself up so he can protect his city, extremely similar to Batman. Anyways, I also love the presence of John Barrowman, as well as the other characters. The music is awesome, and gives an amazing dramatic/heroic feel to each scene. Also, the action/choreography is absolutely mint. Each scene is shot so beautifully. They give you such a sweet thrill, and like I said, the choreography for Oliver is ridiculously good. It’s just so smooth. Overall, this season is amazing, and I am so excited to continue into the second one. I would definitely recommend it to all superhero/DC fans. Even if you don’t like DC, it isn’t over the top or exaggerated like Marvel is. It’s grounded and dramatic, so you can watch it without needing to be a fan or caught up with DC. This season is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
