The Conjuring (2013)
The Conjuring
One of the better horror movies I’ve seen, this is one that I genuinely enjoyed. Although I never really felt scared through any of it, there were definitely some moments that got me good, and overall, the intense feeling throughout the movie was awesome. One thing that was really cool was how even though there were plenty of scares, the jumpscare factor wasn’t super huge. They were definitely present, but that’s not what made the movie scary. The entire story and history of the house is what gave me the most fear, and while the jumpscares were nice, this is one of those movies that doesn’t have to rely on them to give the audience a scream. The cast also helped give the movie its edge, and especially the members who played Carolyn and the girls were amazing. Although everyone did a great job, the daughters were so well played, and they definitely helped boost the scare factor in certain scenes. The music was decently good, but not really much worth noting other than some of the more climatic scenes. I did really enjoy the opening crawl of backstory in the beginning of the movie, and it perfectly set up what you were about to watch. The end credits were also extremely well done, and they provided the movie with so much more authenticity and history, even though it had already finished. Overall, it was packed full of excitement and fear, as well as some really cool shots and sequences. I’d definitely recommend it to all horror fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
