Missing (2023)
Missing
I had no idea this movie was as good as it was. Originally, I didn’t really care to see it, but I’m so glad I did. The nice thing about it is that even though it’s a sequel to Searching, it’s a standalone. You don’t have to have seen the first one, as they aren’t connected. I really like the authenticity of the movie, as almost the entire thing is recorded from a laptop/phone POV. It felt a lot like Unfriended and Unfriended: Dark Web. It adds a sense of realism in a great but mysterious way. The story is absolutely fantastic, and it’s not at all what I expected. The first half is what you’d think, but it takes so many turns that slap you right in the face (which is a good thing). It was such a great theater experience with all the twists. The characters were pretty awesome, and I like how you only ever see them through video feed or FaceTime. Storm Reid did a fantastic job of showing all of her emotions through the computer screen, which can be hard to do. I also really liked Javi’s character, and he brought it a unique element to the whole movie. I enjoyed the music, even though it wasn’t always present (but that helped add the realism to the movie). There were several great buildups in the suspenseful scenes, which is perfect. I’m gonna stop it there, cause I don’t wanna give any more away. If you do watch it, don’t look it up. Go in as blind as possible for a much better experience. Overall, it was near perfect, and I would highly recommend it to all mystery/thriller fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
