The Equalizer 3 (2023)
The Equalizer 3
This was such a strong film in the trilogy, which is sometimes surprising in trilogies nowadays. If this is the final film of the three, it's a very fitting end. I definitely don’t think there should be another, because you get a satisfying ending for Robert and his story. Also, with him in the age he’s in, it makes sense to end it now. Anyways, I liked this one the best of the three. I also think it’s the best made. It’s very detective-y, with more focus on investigation and mystery, rather than just action. It’s not like John Wick where it’s basically just shooting and fighting. It’s definitely present in this movie, but I love how it looks/uses the Italian mafia. It’s more of a crime film rather than action. Almost like ‘The Batman’. The use of the Sicily and the Italian culture is really awesome. The whole plot was pretty fun to watch, and you follow the steps and clues to the main operation the mafia runs. However, despite the good writing, there were definitely a couple scenes that felt a little drawn out. It’s entertaining, just a bit slow. The action scenes were incredible, and very well shot. It was so good to see Denzel back in action once again. I wish there could’ve been a little more action scenes, but the ones we got are on the same level of John Wick and Rambo. Overall, it was pretty good, and though unique, not anything super out there. I’d definitely recommend it to all action/crime fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
