• Ok, this is not at all what I was expecting. I think going into it, I was just expecting a hardcore romance. Which is half of what this was. But A24 is A24, so there’s gonna be a lot more…interesting plot choices. And all of those creative decisions worked. In several ways, it’s a drama, and in many other ways, it’s a crime/thriller. The first half(ish) starts out exactly how I thought it would, and then it hits a certain point where everything flips upside down. I was completely taken by surprise, but in the best way possible. So many things kept happening, and it keeps you on your toes, and you never know who to trust. The whole foundation of the plot was well executed, as well as all the writing around each character. Throughout the film, it’s very tricky trying to choose who to pull for, aside from Lou. Everyone else has their up and down moments where you don’t entirely know if you want them to succeed or not. The performances were great from everyone, especially Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian. I definitely need them in more projects together, because they rocked it. Overall, this is a very well made film that contains plenty of drama and action that kept me on my seat. There were a couple moments that I didn’t hugely care for, but it’s still an awesome film that I wished I watched sooner. I’d recommend it to all crime/thriller fans, especially if you like anything A24. They continue to impress. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
