Meet the Fockers (2004)
Meet the Fockers
Is this as good as the first movie? No. It’s essentially the same plot, just with new characters and some extra curveballs. But is this an enjoyable sequel that I enjoyed? Heck yes it was. If you don’t think this movie is good, you can go fight your grandmother. I thought it was very funny, although it definitely has some weaknesses. As I said, it’s about the same story as the previous movie. Two families meet and chaos pursues. It’s as simple as that. This one is also a little more over the top with adult jokes and situations, which while funny, is a little overbearing sometimes. The acting is also a little over the top in this. But, all of those things are what makes this funny. I love the dynamic (both positive and negative) between the Fockers and the Byrnes. It’s also a really well cast movie. Stiller and De Niro are wonderful again, and the duo of Hoffman and Streisand was amazing. They perfectly embody their characters, and though sometimes they get a little obnoxious, it’s the good king of obnoxious. It’s exactly what really pushes the point of how quirky they are, but you grow to love them. Their line deliveries are great, the outfits are awesome, and them in the Florida setting is perfect. That’s about all I can say about this. A repeat of the first, but a couple different changes still make it funny and entertaining. Plus, some great cameos from ‘Scarface’ and Owen Wilson. I’d recommend this to most comedy fans.
