Men in Black (1997)
Men in Black
This movie was not at all what I was expecting it to be, which helped make it enjoyable and entertaining. It had a great story that was constantly adding plenty of action and aliens into each scene. There were definitely a few parts that I didn’t care for, but overall, this movie was pretty consistent entertainment-wise. It had a great sci-fi/space feel, which I always love. A lot of it felt like a fun mix of Star Trek and Doctor Who. But even though some of it felt a little familiar, it was still very original and unique. I liked the fresh take it used in regards to aliens and their technology. It’s a breath of fresh air from every other kind of alien/space movie. I liked most of the characters, especially both Tommy Lee and Will Smith. They were both funny yet serious, which kept the movie alive and dramatic. I liked how the movie has a comedic spin to it. It gives you a laugh while still being serious, which was nice. I also liked the quick appearances from Jon Gries and David Cross. I was surprised to see them when they popped up, and I was very happy to see them. The designs of the aliens were awesome, which helped give the movie the Star Trek/Doctor Who feel that it is. They were all pretty fun to look at. Most of the CGI and effects were pretty good all throughout. There were definitely a few moments where you could obviously see the CG, but it was still good. For 1997, I was pretty impressed. I liked all the chase/fight scenes, which were thrilling and well shot. The music was great, and Danny Elfman did a great job with the score. Most of the scenes with music present had an intense feel, which helped fit the mood of the movie. Overall, this movie was a fun watch, and it was well made. I would definitely recommend it to those who enjoy sci-fi/alien movies. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
