Friday the 13th (1980)
Although a classic and iconic movie, this one definitely bored me through several bits. I wasn’t expecting anything too great from this movie, but I was still slightly disappointed. It seemed to take awhile for the actual excitement of the movie to start, which wasn’t fun. Despite only being 95 minutes, this movie felt super long and drawn out. It was hard to sit through certain parts. However, when something exciting was happening, it was definitely pretty thrilling. All of the death scenes were pretty fun and intense to watch, and I loved what the movie did with the antagonist. It’s not what you'd expect, which is always nice in a horror movie. It had several nice twists and turns that helped advance the story. But, like usual in a 1980’s horror movie, the dialogue was both crappy and corny. The cheesiness made some parts of the movie fun, and some incredibly dull. The whole cast was kind of laughable, even Kevin Bacon. I was really happy to see him show up in this movie, as he’s always great to watch. But all the characters were pretty dumb and obnoxious, which made the movie difficult to sit through. The music felt a lot like a rip-off of Psycho, and none of it felt original. Though it has the classic horror strings sound, there was nothing unique about it. Overall, I probably wouldn’t watch this again any time soon, but I’d recommend it to those who love corny horror flicks.
