The Amityville Horror (2005)
The Amityville Horror (2005)
The remake of the classic 1979 horror film, I actually enjoyed this one just a little more, although the movie still sucks. So much of it just felt like a giant jumble of random information and flashbacks, none of it made sense. Although there were a few really cool moments, the majority of it was just randomness. The opening was actually really good, and it did a great job of recreating the original murders in the house. At first, I thought I might actually like this movie, but after the first 30ish minutes, it completely fell in the toilet. There were a few moments/scenes that were very questionable, and I’m not sure why they were added to begin with. The effects were also very iffy, and though it was 2005, they definitely could’ve had a better impact. The acting by the entire cast was actually really, especially Ryan Reynolds, as well as all the kids. There were so many scenes where the kids were really able to push out their emotions, and it makes you sympathetic for them. And despite how young the youngest kids were, they were extremely believable, and I was really impressed by their performances. Ryan Reynolds did a great job of confusing the audience, because half the time you never knew what he was thinking, or what he was going to do. He also did a great job of showing his emotion as well. Obviously this a remake, but there were some very similar shots to the original movie, which I liked trying to find. The music was decently good, and though it sounded very cliche, there were a couple moments where it was prominent. Overall, I definitely won’t watch this movie again, but I would probably recommend it to those who like corny and messy horror movies.
