The Wild Robot (2024)
The Wild Robot
Of all the films I missed seeing in theaters, this is probably in the top five of ones I regret missing the most. I think being able to see these colors and animation on a theater screen would’ve been absolutely amazing, and I’m sorry I missed out on it. But it was still just as amazing at home, and I’m glad I saw it before the Oscars. It most certainly deserved its nomination for Best Animated Feature. Of course, the biggest pro is the animation and visuals. The artistry behind every single frame was so meticulously done, with popping scenes, beautifully blended colors, and just pure imagination. Every single detail looks like a smooth paint brush stroke done by the steadiest hand. Absolutely gorgeous. So many scenes took my breath away. The smoothness of the animation helped all the animals and critters look natural, and nothing about the film looked fake. I felt like I was actually living inside the environment. The creature and robot designs were flawless. They all had so much personality and love, and the voice actors helped put that love into it. Each animal has their own character, and I love the performances from everyone. Now I think the only big problem this film has is the story. The majority of it was very entertaining and heartwarming, but there were quite a few moments, especially in the first half, that felt very cliche. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad at all, but there were some scenes where I was like, “Ok, let’s get on with this.” But that’s really the only flaw. Overall, it’s an absolutely amazing film, and I’m very excited to see how this does at the Oscars in just a few weeks. I’d recommend it to all animation fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
