The Seven Year Itch (1955)
The Seven Year Itch
Perhaps Marilyn Monroe’s most iconic role, this is a movie that I love, and one that will live in infamy. If Marilyn wasn’t in it, I don’t think it would’ve been as prominent. Her and her white dress and blonde curls make this everything that it is. It has a really great comedic tone, but you can still pick out the more serious moments between the characters. The story is simple yet full of many funny pieces, and it doesn’t feel to drawn out. I think the length of the movie is really good, because you get just enough time to really get into it, but it doesn’t stick around too long. The writing was really good, and the movie does a great job of expanding the plot outside of the main apartment, while still taking place inside the apartment. The filming techniques were also really good. I do think it focuses a bit too much on Sherman, and even though the movie is about him, I would’ve liked to see a little more screen time for Marilyn. That’s my biggest complaint. Overall, this movie is a classic that provides several of Marilyn Monroe’s most iconic moments and outfits. It’s well made, although it’s nothing super special. I’d recommend it to most comedy fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
