Sherlock Holmes (2009)
Sherlock Holmes
Yep. This is definitely Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes. In my eyes, Sherlock Holmes is a more delicate detective who does more mental tasks rather than physical. However, in this case, Sherlock is an athletic beast of a man who can handle himself very well in a fight. And I loved it. It was such a new and refreshing take on the character. In the past, you get legendary actors like Peter Cushing playing the detective, but RDJ does a fantastic job. His British accent was on point (which I was a little skeptical of), his mental state was perfect, and he just did a great job. Then throw in Jude Law, and you literally have one of the best duos ever. I love them both so much, and they did a really great job. Their friendship is strong, with some hints of conflict that help off balance in a small but cool way. I hope that makes sense. The story was pretty solid, but it moved at a very fast pace that left me confused at times. It throws a lot of information at you in big dumps all the time. My brain got a little clogged at certain scenes, but in the end, it all worked out. That’s the biggest thing that knocks off several points from the Movie Score. Everything else was great. Overall, this movie was full of cool slow-mo shots, good acting, and fun twists, but it definitely is messy at times when it comes to writing. Still, I enjoyed myself. I’d definitely recommend it to most crime/mystery fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
