Blade II (2002)
Blade II
Despite being weaker than the first movie, I actually enjoyed this one more. I’m not totally sure why, because they’re both about the same in terms of quality. I think I just liked the antagonists more and the use of physical effects was nice. Wesley Snipes returning is cool, and as rad as ever. I don’t think “rad” is used anymore, but I like it. The story in this one was overused and lacks originality. It’s a team up between enemies to defeat the greater villain, and that’s it. There’s a fun twist or two but nothing that makes it stand above anything else I’ve seen. The action wasn’t as good as the first movie, and though there were plenty of fun scenes, it didn’t hit as hard as before. Same with the characters. Nothing special, but I loved the antagonists and seeing something besides just vampires was really cool. I loved their designs and the physical makeup used for their mouths was freaking cool. Besides that, the movie is still very bland when there isn’t any fighting going on. It feels slow and doesn’t seem to have a meaningful plot. Overall, it has some fun points and I enjoyed it more than the first, but it’s not as good a movie and it lacks a lot of substance. I’d only recommend it if you’re a Blade fan or a crappy action fan.
