Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
This, for me, is probably the most underrated Star Wars movie out there. I’ve talked to so many people that can’t stand it, but me, I absolutely love it. I used to watch it so much as a kid. Even though the original trilogy is my favorite, this one is probably tied with ROTS in terms of which movie I’ve seen the most. I basically had this on loop when I was younger. Much like Episode I, this isn’t necessarily the best movie made, but it’s a step up. It raises the stakes, while still being somewhat mild. There’s a lot of useless and drawn out romance, but it’s whatever. It’s also packed with more political drama, which many people don’t like, but I do. There’s much more action, however, which is why I like it way more than Episode I. It also introduces some new characters, some of which are my all time favorites. Obi-Wan really starts to become Obi-Wan, Jango Fett (my favorite bounty hunter) is introduced, and Kit Fisto (my all time favorite Star Wars character ever) absolutely kicks butt (not really, but I like to think he’s the MVP of Star Wars). Also, Sir Christopher Lee as Count Dooku is perfect casting. The scene with Dooku and the Jedi rescuing Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Padme is one of my favorite Star Wars scenes ever. Anyways, one big complaint I have is the CGI. The movie is just SO special effects heavy, to the point where it sometimes becomes unbearable. The clone troopers look alright, but still very fake, and Yoda is just downright horrible. Some moments look awesome, like the seismic charges, but others just suck. But, for me, the good outweighs the bad. John Williams’ score also helps distract from the overbearing green screenage. So overall, this movie isn’t the best made, because the dialogue is pretty crappy, there’s some useless drama, and like I’ve ranted about a lot, the special effects are extremely distracting. However, I really love it, because there’s some great fight scenes, awesome designs, and the music is superb. I’d recommend this to all Star Wars fans.
