Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
So I finally finished the TCM franchise (until they make another one), and I have to say, this one was such a disappointment, and I’m just so mad that this franchise went to crap. The original movie is one of the greatest movies ever made, and then all the rest are just in the toilet. I can see what the writers were trying to go for in this movie, but boy did they swing and miss. It tried way too hard to adapt to modern times. It did a somewhat decent job of being set in the present day, while still having an old feel. But it just felt so…off. Even bringing back Sally didn’t work. It was pointless and unnecessary. I do enjoy when horror movies bring back legacy characters, such as ‘Scream’ (2022) and ‘The Exorcist: Believer’. This one obviously does that as well, but it didn’t pay off in the end. The story just tried too hard to be set in the future while still being stuck in the past. The characters were all horrific, and even Leatherface was bland. He didn’t bring anything we haven’t seen before, although his look was very grounded and pretty creepy. I like his mask, though it doesn’t live up to the original Leatherface look. I did enjoy the makeup and gore, which made for some very fun death scenes. The action and violence was very fun and shocking, but in between those moments, the movie was extremely boring and very hard to sit through. Overall, this movie sucks big time, and is extremely disappointing. It’s definitely not one I’d recommend unless you’re doing a TCM marathon.
