Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
Ant-Man and the Wasp
The second of the Ant-Man movies, I definitely enjoyed this one, though not as much as the first. It still has the great feel that the first movie had, which was good. Although I was excited to watch this one, I was a bit skeptical on seeing Evangeline Lilly as Hope. I wasn’t a huge fan of her character in the first one, but she definitely steps up and makes her character better. I really enjoyed her in this movie, as well as Paul Rudd. Both of them do a great job of displaying emotion through each and every scene, and in some cases, they make the characters relatable. They are funny and humorous, but are also serious when needed. Michael Douglas, Michael Peña, Laurence Fishburn, and Randall Park also do a really great job. Not only is their acting spot-on, but their characters are very fun to watch. The story overall was exciting and intriguing. I loved how it explored more of the quantum realm, which is a concept that can be confusing. I love how it dives into more of the unknown, and though we get a glimpse of it in the first movie, being able to see a decent chunk of it in this one was cool. The plot flowed easily and kept everything together really well. Although a few parts of it may seem a little confusing, overall it was fun to follow along with. The CGI and effects were extremely good in this movie, and though it didn’t show as much “tiny environment” as I would’ve liked, the subatomic scenes definitely make up for that. There were so many cool things to look at, and there was constant detail. All of the visuals were beautiful and stunning. My favorite parts of the whole movie was when the cars would shrink down to Hot Wheels size, which was both funny and cool. There were also the scenes where certain objects were made big, like the salt shaker and the PEZ dispenser. Things like that are awesome details that I love, so seeing that was cool. The music was really good, and though I didn’t always notice it, when it was present, it was awesome. I really loved the car chase scenes, and the score helped build the action and give it a great feel. Overall, this was a great movie. Although I still prefer the first one, I still liked this one as well. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
