Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
This doesn’t quite do it for me. I wasn’t expecting anything spectacular, but I was still disappointed. It was a nice dedication to Chadwick Boseman, and I liked how it played off of T’Challa’s death. You can see the effect his death had on this movie, and not just the character, but Chadwick himself. Moving on to both new and recurring characters was nice, giving a chance to continue the Wakanda storyline without fully relying on Chadwick. I do miss him, but his absence is handled well, and the way it was structured without him was done professionally. But, the movie still lacked any kind of shimmer or shine for me. I liked the story progression, but it seemed like just another Marvel movie. The stakes didn’t seem dire. It just kind of kept going on and on, and was too long for its own good. There were many instances where it simply lost my attention. Some of the scenes were very fun, especially all the action sequences. But the dialogue was slow and I just couldn’t get into it. The performances were decent, but nothing that stood out to me. That goes for the characters as well. I honestly wasn’t a huge fan of anyone, except for maybe M’Baku. Besides him, I never got attached to anyone else. The visual effects were pretty good though, and probably the high point of the movie. I loved the designs of the different environments and animals/creatures. The costume design was fantastic as well. Overall, this movie isn’t much to remember, and dreadfully slow. Not Marvel’s best, but certainly not their worst. I’d still recommend it to most MCU fans, though it’s probably not one I’d watch again. Rest in peace Chadwick Boseman.
