Green Lantern (2011)
Green Lantern
I will say this: I definitely believe this movie is underrated. Now, most of it is still kinda bad, but I think it gets too much hate. I actually enjoyed a lot of it, except for a few scenes and production choices. I think 26% on Rotten Tomatoes is a bit low. I’m not saying this movie is good, but it’s not as bad as people say. I like the story, because it’s nice to see the history behind the Green Lanterns, as well as Hal Jordan’s personal story. I’m more of a live-action guy rather than animation (although I really love DC animation), so I’m happy to have some kind of Green Lantern live-action movie, no matter how bad people think it might be. I really like Ryan Reynolds as Hal, Peter Sarsgaard as Hammond, and definitely Mark Strong as Sinestro. I loved their suits/designs so much. However, that leads me to the point that this movie is CGI overload, which is a major hit on the Berry Score. It just feels so fake, and I can’t stand it. Hal’s mask was one of the most evident concerns. Some of the CGI was actually awesome, like Sinestro or Hammond’s looks, but besides those, a lot of it was just too…much. I enjoyed the soundtrack, though it wasn’t anything super special. Overall, this movie wasn’t super great, the acting was corny, and the CGI punched you in the face, but it was still a somewhat fun movie. Plus, there was a really great tease at the end. I’d probably wouldn’t recommend this movie, unless you just like not-well made super movies.
