Young Sheldon (2017-2024)
Young Sheldon
Several months ago, I was coming off a Big Bang Theory high, so I knew I just had to watch ‘Young Sheldon’. So I did, and though it doesn’t come close to touching Big Bang, it’s still very good, and pays great tribute to the original show. I couldn’t have asked for a better prequel, and I’d even go as far to say that it’s one of the best prequels in any form of media. It branches off and does its own thing, while still honoring the characters. Of course, of all the Big Bang characters, Sheldon is easily the one you’d want to learn more about. This focuses on his upbringing and family, and it adds a lot more meaning to some of the original show. The cast is absolutely amazing, and dare I say it’s one of the most perfectly cast shows of all time? Iain Armitage as young Sheldon was pure genius, and he did almost as great as Jim Parsons did. Now, nobody will ever be able to touch Jim Parson as Sheldon, but Armitage does an awesome job replicating that same quirky aura, physically and mentally, that adult Sheldon has. The rest of the performances were great, especially from Annie Potts and Zoe Perry. The way the show was shot was also nice. It’s done in the style of a dramatic show, as opposed to how Big Bang was done with a laugh track and one main camera angle (like most classic sitcoms). Overall, this is one of the best spin offs of all time, and though it’s nowhere near the greatest of Big Bang, it’s still hilariously entertaining and will be enjoyed by all Big Bang fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
