Succession (2018-2023)
Succession
Where to begin. I’m not even sure. For starters, this may possibly be the greatest written show I’ve ever seen in my life. It genuinely blows my mind how there can be so much depth and emotion put into these characters. The development, personalities, and relationships between everyone was so perfectly put on paper and then portrayed on screen. I’m just saying that the writers room may be the best ensemble of writers ever seen. I’m serious. Major, MAJOR kudos to Jesse Armstrong for creating and writing the greatest four seasons of TV that I’ve ever seen. Each character has a very specific personality, and they all have great arcs, whether they end how you want them to or not. The business side of the show was well executed, showing deals and drama that is easy to follow along with. Even if you have zero business experience, everything is understandable and extremely grounded and dialed in. And speaking of dialed in, every single performance, both leading and supporting, was so beautifully done. Whether it’s a character you like or dislike, you can’t help but respect the level of effort each actor and actress put into it. Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, and Sarah Snook are all forces beyond belief. The tension, hate, and love between everyone was so strong. The natural chemistry was very evident. If it were up to me, I would give every single member of the cast a thousand Emmy’s each. There’s so much more I want to say, but I don’t believe I can put into words the greatness of the show. It may be the best ever made. I don’t say that lightly. I would recommend this to every living person. This show is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
