The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
So between this movie and the first one, I think the first one is still my favorite. Nothing against this one, I really loved it, but it didn’t seem as thrilling to me. It was still very gripping, but because of the slightly repeated story, it was like I’d already seen everything. I still really really liked it, just not as much. Despite still liking the first movie better, I think this movie is actually better made. Even though I just said that the story felt very similar, it was vastly different in many ways. It’s a fantastic continuation of the overall storyline. The transition between the first movie and this one is so smooth, and you don’t miss a single beat. The events throughout the movie that lead up to the 75th Hunger Games are written beautifully. Of course, I guess I should be praising the book rather than the movie, but for now, I’m praising the movie. I love how you get to see the even crueler side of President Snow and the Panem government. When you think it can’t get worse, it does. And we’re a little less than halfway through the series, so who knows what’s to come. Anyways, seeing the Hunger Games again was cool, though like I stated, familiar. It didn’t seem super fresh, but there were some very creative spins. Some returning and some new characters also made it awesome. Of course, seeing Katniss and Peeta again was amazing. I love the way their relationship is put together. It’s both happy and sad. It was also nice to see Woody Harrelson again, as well as Jeffrey Wright and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Everyone contributed in a great way. Overall, this movie was extremely well made, although I still prefer the first one (for now). This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
