Late Night with the Devil (2024)
Late Night with the Devil
Here it is. The first perfect movie of 2024. As well as it being perfect, it now sits as my 7th favorite horror/thriller of all time. It was one of the most incredible movies I’ve ever seen, and I just…..wow. Very few movies have made me feel the way this one did. Not because I was scared or creeped out. It was just filmed so beautifully. The aesthetic was unlike anything I've ever seen. The cinematography was plain yet so detailed and vivid. In a way, it was very unsettling with the mid/late 70’s vibe, and it just feels so authentic. My gosh. Everything from the writing to the characters was so spot on. I mean, I can’t even describe what I’m feeling right now. It’s one of those movies where you have to see it for yourself to understand the masterpiece that it is. My brain feels so scrambled, but in a really good way. I’m gonna try to actually organize my thoughts real quick, and give a brief (and hopefully spoiler free) rundown of everything. The story was original, unique, and brilliantly written with simple but awesome twists. The actors embodied their characters in a great way, especially David Dastmalchian. I love how quirky but serious he is. Also, Ingrid Torelli, who played Lilly, scared the heck out of me. One of my favorite things was the practical effects (like the worms, Gus’s head, etc). Again, it makes it feel so authentic. And the analog horror style was the cherry on top. There’s three thousand more things I want to say, but I’ll end it here. For now. Just know if you don’t see this, you’re missing one of the best movie experiences of your entire life. I’d recommend it to all horror/thriller fans, and I’m seriously ready to watch it again. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
