I was certainly not expecting what I just watched. The only thing I knew about this movie was that Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore were in it. That’s it. I was not ready for the mystery and the uncomfortable feel that the movie gives. There were so many moments that just made me squirm. It’s one of those kinds of movies. In fact, I’m going to try to keep this review as short as possible, solely because of its content. Go in as blind as possible. Do not look this up, or try to see what the plot is. You have to take it minute by minute and watch the whole thing unfold. It’s just so well written in basically every aspect. I won’t say any more than that for the story. Acting-wise, everyone did such a ridiculously good job. Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore were shining every second they were on screen. Especially Natalie. Literally every second she was on my TV, I was enamored by her character and how she portrayed both herself and Gracie. But, the sleeper performance was Charles Melton. Wow. He stays so quiet during the movie, but he packs such a big punch. The movie wouldn’t be the same without him. And that score? MY GOSH. It was so good and ominous. It reminded me a lot of old 80s thrillers. It was perfect, and brings so much feeling to the movie. I’m gonna conclude here before I say too much. Just know that it’s not always what you expect. Overall, it's just beautifully made, although there were a couple scenes that I wasn’t a huge fan of. There’s definitely some bits that aren’t necessary, nor always make sense. But I’d recommend this to all drama fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
