• This is possibly one of the most unnecessary sequels I’ve ever seen. It has its good moments, but I just don’t understand why it was made, other than adding some random lore to the Predator and just having another Predator movie. I really enjoyed all the action scenes, because of how bloody and awesome they are, but even then, I found myself getting somewhat bored. The story just doesn’t have a great hook, so I never got pulled into it. I knew what was going on, it just wasn’t as fascinating as the first Predator. There’s no Schwarznegger or Weathers, but there is Glover and Busey. The acting was a bit cheesy, but also good at the same time. It was the early 90’s feel, where everything was taken seriously, but it almost feels a little campy. Especially towards the end with the trophy room, and all the other Predators. It felt a bit much, but still kind of cool. I just think the overall writing was weak and bland. The action was fun, but everything in between just felt drawn out. The CGI was a step down from the first movie, but still somewhat decent for 1990. The design of costumes for the Predators were really good, though (again). Overall, this was a movie that serves no purpose other than to show the Predator again, and though it feels slow at points, there’s still some fun moments. I’d probably recommend it only if you’re watching your way through the franchise, or you just like weak sci-fi/action movies.
