The Adventures of Tintin (2011)
The Adventures of Tintin
Coming in as the 36th perfect (perfect with a ‘p’, as in ‘psychology’) movie in Berry History, I doubt anybody, and I repeat ANYBODY, loves this movie more than I do. I can think of 4 or 5 movies that make up my childhood, and this one was one of them. I grew up reading the Tintin series (I own every book, all hardcover, of course), so when I watched this for the first time, I was head over heels. I’ve seen it more times than I can count. It never gets old, and I have half the movie memorized. I just can’t explain how much I love it and how much it means to me. I count myself one of the lucky ones that notices all the little references and easter eggs. I pity those that haven’t read the books, but have seen the movie. Speaking of the source material, this movie definitely takes some creative liberties and slightly strays away from the book it’s based on. Because of that, I realistically should only give this a 99%, but I love it so much that I can’t do anything less than 100%. Steven Spielberg and his all star cast and crew did such an amazing job. The cast is impressive, with Jame Bell, Andy “The🐐” Serkis, Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Toby Jones, and many others. And those are only the ones you see up front. The crew of Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright, and so many others are what help make this movie so special. The story is non-stop action and mystery from start to finish. It’s packed full of detective work, crime, drama, adventure, and just straight fun. You’ll never get bored, and even the slower scenes are jammed with details. Like I said, the cast does an awesome job, and the motion capture is flawless. There are so many great transitions, the setting is awesome, and it’s just a visually pleasing film. And like always, John Williams delivers with one of the best soundtracks you’ll ever hear. I want to talk about this for hours, but I’ll let you decide for yourself if you like it or not. Please do yourself a favor and watch this movie. Even if you don’t like animated movies, it’s still one of the best movies of all time. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it NOW!
