The Marvels (2023)
The Marvels
Again, another low quality entry in the MCU. I wasn’t expecting too much, so I wouldn’t say that I was disappointed. I was still left feeling like I had a bad taste in my mouth, but there were some moments that were fun. The first 30-45 minutes was actually pretty solid, but after a while, I just stopped caring. The movie isn’t horrible, it just didn’t feel like it had any depth to it. When Scorsese said that comic book movies weren’t cinema, this is an example where I would agree. It just felt like a chance to weakly continue a storyline by throwing some characters together and having them team up. The chemistry between the three Marvels was awesome, and I loved when all three were on screen. But when they weren’t, it just felt boring and forced. The story was boring and the villain was just a random chick who was evil. It was whatever. The VFX wasn’t horrible, but nothing spectacular. All the space scenes looked great, but occasionally some of the VFX looked choppy and CW-like when it was used around the characters. Overall, this movie is mediocre at best, and not one I’ll watch again. But there’s some cool cameos, so stick around for those.
