Doctor Who (Season 1) (2005)
Doctor Who (Season 1)
After a nine year break, Doctor Who finally returned in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston cast as the 9th doctor. Needless to say, it quickly became one of the greatest, and one of my favorite, shows of all time. Although he only filmed for one season, the first season of Doctor Who has some of the best episodes I’ve seen. The stories are really good, and though the effects can sometimes be cheesy, it's extremely entertaining. The first episode “Rose” is a really good kickstarter for the season, and it perfectly introduces the Doctor’s new look, along with Rose Tyler. To me, she’s one of the best companions we’ve gotten in recent Doctor Who times, and her relationship with the Doctor is really unique. Like I said before, the story writing and screenplay is really good, and each episode adds an awesome sense of intensity and action, along with comedy and quality entertainment. For some reason, not a lot of people care for the first season, and Eccleston usually gets a lot of hate, but those people are nuts. Overall, it’s really well made, so fun to watch. Plus, the music is really good, and the main theme is one of the best TV show themes we’ve ever gotten. Each episode’s score is super energizing, and it gives you a sense of adrenaline. The way the music was written and recorded uses unique sounds that give it a futuristic space feel, which adds to the element of each story. I’d definitely recommend watching this season for those who want to enjoy and get into a good sci-fi show. This season is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
