The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
Often regarded as one of the scariest movies of all time, this is one that certainly keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is easily one of the greatest horror movies ever made, if not the best. The first time I watched it, I liked it, but on a rewatch, I just can't get over how perfectly made this is. The old 70's tone is just so beautiful yet ominous, which is what gives the movie its charm. I definitely enjoyed Leatherface, and he is certainly an underrated horror villain, in terms of overall character, as well as his fear factor. I really liked how he didn’t have any backstory whatsoever, and even at the end of the movie, you never know why he wears the faces. At first, I thought it was just gonna be another movie about a guy who kills people, but the movie goes so much deeper than that. The way that it goes from a potential slasher film to a straight up cult, it makes the movie so much more terrifying than it already was. One thing I wanna mention that was cool was the very first opening shots, because it perfectly sets up and prepares you for what you’re about to watch. This movie is just so perfect, even if there's some goofy moments or dialogue. Hey, it was the early 70's, give them a break. I would definitely recommend this movie to all horror fans, and it’s a really great Halloween watch. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it NOW!
