John Wick (2014)
John Wick
John Wick is often referred to as one of the greatest action series of all time, and let me say, based on this movie alone, I can confirm that it’s true. It’s such a strong start to the series, as well as a great introduction to his character. From the very first second of the movie, I was completely sucked in, and basically stayed that way until the very end. The story is so simple yet almost complex, with plenty of detail and excitement. And speaking of excitement, holy crap. The action in this movie is so awesome, and it only gets better throughout the series. One of the many things I loved about the movie was the runtime. Usually, the longer the movie, the more I like it. However, the movie gets straight to the point, and goes non-stop with the shooting and fighting. It doesn’t cram in too much, and it’s just constant action. It was just so cool. I absolutely love the character of John Wick, as he almost reminds me of a modern day John Rambo (but obviously with his own standout features). He’s so hardcore and brutal, and doesn’t think twice about his actions. Also, much like Rambo, everything goes down because of one small act. And just to clarify, I’m not comparing Rambo and Wick, I just think they are similar in terms of fighting and mentality. The rest of the cast is awesome as well (and a special shoutout to Willem Dafoe). The music was really good and fits the style of the movie extremely well. It gets you so pumped up, which makes you enjoy the fight scenes so much more. The fight scenes were also freaking fantastic. They were so well choreographed, and thrilling from start to finish. Overall, this movie was awesome, and though it was epic, it wasn’t anything groundbreaking. I would highly recommend it to all action fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
