Music by John Williams (2024)
Music by John Williams
“Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music.” John Williams will never, ever be rivaled as the greatest composer to ever live. Sure, Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven were great, but you can’t possibly tell me that Williams is below their level. They don’t hold a candle to the utter greatness that is John Williams. Come fight me if you want to. You know it’s true. This documentary does a great job of showcasing his work and his life, and how both things influenced each other. It goes back and forth between events in his life and his fantastic compositions, while still blending them beautifully. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t tear up a few times, especially when hearing him talk about his pieces, while hearing and seeing the pieces being played. Star Wars, Superman, Schindler’s List, E.T., Jurassic Park, the list goes on and on and on. The greatest composer ever. The roster of interviewees for the doc was great, as you get to hear from Spielberg (of course), Ron Howard, Ke Huy Quan, James Mangold, JJ Abrams, and many more influential men and women in the cinema and music fields. It’s a well assembled documentary that honors one of the most iconic and inspirational men to ever live. If you appreciate film and music, go watch this. It’s so heartwarming. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
