Saw II (2005)
Saw II
A suspenseful film all around, and good sequel to the first one, I certainly enjoyed this movie. It basically has the same feel as the previous Saw, but with its own story and different traps. It started off a bit confusing, but the beginning definitely prepares you for what you’re about to watch. My favorite part about this movie is the fact that it uses a whole group of victims that have to work together, instead of just two (like the first one). This one is even more brutal, and it does a great job of showing you the dark side of people. It shows how one might act in a life-or-death situation, and how nobody trusts each other when it comes to saving your own skin. I particularly enjoyed Donnie Wahlberg, and he did such a great job in his portrayal of a scared and angry father. The rest of the cast was alright, but he especially helped make the movie enjoyable. I also liked how it added a bit more to Jigsaw’s backstory, and it gives you a few more details as to why he does what he does. His use of an entire house for his victims, instead of just the bathroom (like he did in the first one), makes the scenario feel so much more dangerous. There were several really good twists and turns, and the ending was great. I didn’t care for the music much, and though it was suspenseful, it wasn’t anything worth remembering. Overall, it was really fast paced and a bit sloppy when it came to the story, but it was still fun to watch.
