Unfriended (2014)
Unfriended
With such a unique and truth-based movie concept, this is one movie that was extremely suspenseful, along with terrifying. I wouldn’t say I was necessarily scared, but there were several scenes throughout where I kept fidgeting because of how nervous I felt. Each character gave a great portrayal, but they didn’t have much backstory, which kind of sucked. Throughout the movie you get really familiar with each character, which is nice. One thing I loved was the intro of the Universal logo, and it set up what you were about to watch really nicely. The intro of the movie also started very disturbing, but it perfectly helped set the stage for what was coming. The ending was also extremely good, and something that I absolutely did not expect at all. Despite the fact that there was no music, having a few songs being forced to play over Blaire’s laptop was a really cool and eerie touch. And having the whole movie being shot through the laptop was a really neat concept, and it added such a scary element to the movie. There were a couple things throughout the movie that weren’t explained that probably should’ve, but overall the movie wrapped up well. Not sure I would watch it again, but for a first-time watch, it was really good, and definitely recommended to those who love horrors.
