Hollywood (2020)
Hollywood
The main reason I wanted to watch this was mainly for David Corenswet, just to get brushed up on his filmography in preparation for his role as Superman. I didn’t realize how sucked in I was going to get. It’s such a great limited series that shows the pros of cons in Hollywood, specifically in the late 40’s. I love the relevance behind the show, because a majority of the situations portrayed are still meaningful in today's time. It’s a very simple seven episodes, because it basically just follows people who want to make it big in the movies, and their journey in the movie they’re making. It’s so fun to see all the behind the scenes with the production of the movie, and the relationships between the characters. I am taking off several points off the Show Score because of the creative liberties it took with some of the characters. There are some original ones, but also some actual, historical figures. There were several decisions made where it creates scenarios that never happened, rather than sticking to history. To me, that’s not a problem at all, but there were times where it kind of seemed a little overshadowing the main storyline. But I still loved it. The cast did a pretty good job all around, though some of the dialogue was a little cheesy and forced. I loved all the characters, and the performances. Overall, it was such an entertaining show, and I love how it ends with the Academy Awards, and you see the accomplishments of everyone involved in the fictional movie. It’s a well rounded show, with a great soundtrack, and as a hopeful movie biz guy like me, it gives me hope that I could maybe one day make it. This show is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
