The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
This was a decently good movie, and I liked the story line and how it dealt with self-identity, peer pressure, and just high school life in general. A lot of the movie just felt like your typical cliche high school movie, though. All of the scenes that were filmed outside of school were really well done, but all of the school scenes just felt like every other high school movie out there. The trio of Lerman, Watson, and Miller was really good and I definitely felt like they had some good chemistry on screen. I like how the movie focuses on mental problems in teens, without directly addressing it but still making sure that the viewer is aware that something is wrong. Because of that, the last 15 minutes was really good, and it wrapped up the movie really well and gave it a great ending. The music wasn’t anything special, but I enjoyed the fact that they used several nostalgic-feeling rock songs to really set the scenes. One thing I didn’t care for was the whole Punk Rocky scenes, which I felt were pointless and definitely could’ve been cut. I probably wouldn’t watch this one again, but I am glad that I saw it.
