Patton (1970)
Patton
This was definitely a thrilling and intriguing take on General Patton. I never really knew much about him prior to watching this movie, but it gives you a good look at his attitude and personality in the army. This movie also isn’t just a war flick, but it drives into the strategy of fighting the battles. Also, similar to Band of Brothers, it gives you a look at each character, as well as the battles not seen (PTSD, injuries, etc). The story is very interesting, and like I said, it doesn’t focus on just the war. You get to see Patton’s way of thinking, which was a fun and curious study of his character, both on screen and real life. It also does a great job of following several events throughout the war, not just a single battle or notable time. It covers a lot of ground, both physically and figuratively. All the action scenes were absolutely great, as they were intense and thrilling. They were all shot beautifully, and I appreciate the effort that went into making them. All the characters were great, especially George C. Scott as Patton, and Karl Malden as General Bradley. They both embodied great characters, and were perfect for the role. The music was also fantastic, as it has a Patriotic/army feel, which is obviously right for this movie. There were some scenes that were completely silent, which was a great contrast to what was normally heard. Overall, I would definitely recommend this movie to those who love dramatized biopics, as well as history/war movies. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
